Welcome! Let Me Introduce Myself

Firstly, my name is Krystem Ware-Jones. I am a 24 year old author from the Metro Detroit area. I published my first book, the first of a planned series, titled Ethan Moon: Remembering Obscura in July of 2024.

It was never my dream to become a writer or an author. Even now I don't feel it is exactly my dream. But I have always loved to write from a very young age. On any loose-leaf sheet of paper, you could bet I was coming up with some kind of story (usually of the fantasy genre), or cough fan-fiction. I even had my own little comic series/news paper in elementary school that I may or may not have sold off in exchange for snacks or legit currency.

I was writing so much that I'd even get my writings confiscated in class by teachers who insisted math was more important (smh). This was, of course, before I learned of the all powerful device called a "Flash Drive" that I could use to bring my stories with me everywhere, and write where I so pleased should there be an available computer. (We won't get into the time I lost said flash drive;;;;). But anyway, as you can see, writing has always been a big part of my life in a way I would have never considered had I not been sitting here reflecting on my writing journey. It may not be my dream to be an author, but I can say that lately I have found myself dreaming of spending my days writing and creatively expressing myself more than any one specific career. Honestly, I have no dreams for any one specific career outside of working on all of my personal projects. Maybe the truth is, it is my dream to make my projects my career. I have so many. So many things I want to create but I never feel I have the time or the capacity. And I don't want to sit here and go on and on about that, but at least you can see where my mind might be.

I say all of this to show you what all of this has brought me to. A blog.

I have never been a big social media girl. As introverted as I am (despite my big personality) I find it incredibly difficult to maintain and stay on top of posting, and editing and so on and so on. If you've come from my Instagram (hello, hi, thank you for being here) you can now see why I post so sparsely (sorry, I know). And my TikTok? Ugh, thinking up video ideas is so weird and hard for me even though I do have a bit of fun when doing it. Not only that but being able to say everything I want to say in the way that I want to say it/present it has just not been great converting it all into an IG post or a TikTok. It doesn't work because my strong suit is....writing. Not taking pictures, not making a video. So I decided to try blogging. Somewhere where I can do everything I want, reach an audience who have come to sit with me and read what I have to say, my thoughts, my ideas, my stories. Yes. I am happy to be here now, typing this up and putting my thoughts down on paper. It feels really good.

Creating Obscura the Blog will be where I will talk more in depth about my book series Ethan Moon and its development along with additional content related to it. For those who don't know, "Obscura" is the name of the fantasy world in my book. Which of course is why I have named my blog Creating Obscura ^^. But I will not just be talking about the Ethan Moon series here, I would also like to talk about other writing projects I have been working on. I'd like to share short stories and writings I have done past and present, as well as my thoughts and opinions on writing in general and sharing my writing journey as a whole.
